Charles Rice was born in Lee County where his parents were attending Auburn University. The family eventually moved to Anniston where Charles (known as "Charlie") did most of his growing up. He graduated from Anniston High School and, much to his parents' dismay, then received both undergraduate and law degrees from the University Of Alabama (Roll Tide!). Following graduation from law school in 1978, he and his his wife Lynn (Garfrerick) returned to Anniston, began raising a family and Charlie opened a law practice. For the past 30 years he's focused on helping folks with Workers' Compensation, Social Security, and Personal Injury problems.

Charlie has been very involved in the community having served as a member and past president of both the Anniston Morning Kiwanis Club and Anniston Morning Rotary Club ; served on numerous local boards and charities including The United Way, American Heart Association, Crimestoppers and Habitat for Humanity; served as local Chapter President and on the Executive Committee of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association and currently serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Anniston. Charlie also has served on the planning committees for several Workers Compensation CLE programs, including ABICLE and has appeared frequently as a featured speaker at  seminars over the past five years.

Charlie has practiced before the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, the Alabama Supreme Court, the Federal Courts in this Circuit (Northern District of Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Civil Appeals) and belongs to a number of professional and bar associations including:

  • Alabama State Bar (Workers' Compensation Section member; numerous presentations at ABICLE seminars on Workers' Compensation)
  • Alabama Trial Lawyers Association
  • Calhoun County Bar Association
  • National Organization Of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR)
